As my term comes to an end as your president, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the support given to me during the past two years. It was an honor and very gratifying to serve as your president.
I had opportunity to share experiences of the previous Board of the Directors of New-York and specially Dr. Jajmin Moshirpur the past president and Dr. Hooshang Mirlohi the past treasurer. I also want to appreciate the Board of Trustees specially Dr. Amir Ganchi, IAMA’s founder who continuously since the beginning, with his tenacious spirit has been carrying the day by day load of connections among the members and the different committees With very limited resources which has been available to him, I have to admit that Dr. Ganchi’s task is cumbersome, most time consuming and difficult, as he has to be involved with many phone calls and e-mails which are directing to him almost every day of the week. Although he has been admired by many in a subtle way but also he has been challenged by some, which I believe in each case he had the courage to adhere with the IAMA by-laws. After all it is impossible to have 100 percent of the people agreeable with all issues in a democratic association.
In past two years I was en lighted to see the activities of IAMA-JAVAAN which I believe gave IAMA a powerful frontier. Their activities are included but not limited to expansion of their memberships, connection with International Medical Graduates (IMG), helping the new doctors to find resources needed to reach their goals. Here I like to thank IAMA JAVAAN’s Board of Directors and specially Dr. Ashkan Afshin with his outstanding performance.
Last two years CME was informative, educational and exposed many bright medical members to us. Thanks to CME committee and their co-chairs, Dr. Fredrick Ellyin, Dr. Hosein Shokouh-Amiri and Dr. Ali Moshirfar for their contributions to the CME program.
I was pleased to see our web-site getting in shape with the work of Dr. Omid Zad, and also our e-bulletin now on the way with the help of publication committee, especially Dr. Ali Alizadeh Sovari. Finally I have to thank members of my Board of Directors and my wife who helped me during the past two years.
In this journey every position was a volunteer service and not only that, also they paid their membership dues and their function expenses, and even used their office spaces, personnel and equipment without any charge to IAMA.
This is our association, I agree it has flaws and has rooms for improvements. Our power is depend upon the increasing number of paid membership, volunteers who contribute their time, talent and encouraging other friends to join IAMA membership.
IAMA is your Pride, do not let it down. Please help our young medical graduate and new comers from Iran to have essential support from IAMA. Just remember the day that you were a new graduate, came to America and someone help you to show your way up.
So with this words I do pass on the torch, be proud and happy, just because you are Iranian with the glorious heritage.
