Minutes of IAMA Illinois Chapter Meeting held on June 16, 2008 at 2909  Loire Avenue, Oak Brook, IL

Present: Dr. Ali Djalilian, Dr. Hassan Eghbali, Dr. Marc Fallah, Dr. Ahmad Fathi, Dr. Fatima Moghadam, Dr. Baroukh Radfar, Dr. Akbar Rahmani, Dr. Barry Sadegi and Dr. Faramarz Salimi

The minute of IAMA-Illinois Chapter meeting on February 22, 2008 was approved.

The first order of business was the approval of the transfer of $12,000.00, which was previously raised by IAMA Illinois Chapter for BAM Medical Center, to IAMA. This was the money, which was in an interest-bearing CD that had matured on May 29, 2008.

This Chapter expressed its profound gratitude to Dr. F. Moghadam for raising the above mentioned fund.

Dr. Rahmani, expressed concern about any legal consequences regarding sending money to IRAN given the current US Government’s ban.

Dr. Sadegi, acknowledged Dr. Raahmani’s concern, and he stated that, we can not send any money to IRAN by the regulation of the Office of Foreign Asset Control
(OFAC). Dr. Sadegi reported that, according to the consultation he had with the IAMA’s Board of Trustees, he was reassured that IAMA members do not have any Liability toward this matter. The legal concerns of this subject has been fully understood by the Board of trustees. They are in close and continuous contact with OFAC.

The proceedings of 2008 annual meeting of IAMA was reported by Dr. Sadegi including the announcement by the Board Members that, henceforth, there would be a quarterly e-letter by IAMA which will be posted on www.iama.org, thus available to all members.

The next order of business involved, the rising cost of printing and mailing IAMA Bulletin, overhead and office expenses, organizing and running the annual meetings and partial sponsorship of the residents and medical students for the annual meeting expenses. It has recently become quite difficult to balance the IAMA’s budget. Therefore it was suggested to transfer total membership dues of $100.00 to IAMA. Chapters to ask their respective IAMA members separate dues according to their needs.  The motion was discussed and was unanimously approved.

Drs. Moghadam, Salimi and Rahmani moved to raise the total IAMA membership dues to $120.00 of which $100.00 will be transferred to IAMA and $20.00 will be deposited in Illinois Chapter bank account.. The proposal was also approved unanimously.
