It is with great pleasure to report to you on the achievements of IAMA during the past year. The feedback from last year’s conference and social gathering that was held in San Francisco was very positive; we are looking forward to this year’s annual meeting that is scheduled for May 23 – 26, 2008 at the Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC. Enclosed with this letter is a “Call for Abstract” form; I urge you to consider sending an abstract if you are interested in presenting at the next CME meeting in May. This type of educational and social gathering attracts a group of young physicians from different academic institutions in the United States. The new group of physicians who recently moved to the United States clearly gets benefit from their interaction with IAMA’s Javaan group, both for guidance in residency programs and also for their contact with the Iranian community. The eight IAMA chapters are doing well and are very active. The annual meeting of IAMA Texas is scheduled for November 3, 2007 and the Chicago, Illinois chapter annual meeting is scheduled for November 2. It is with great pleasure that I inform you that the 9th Chapter of IAMA was recently formed in Tennessee due to the combined efforts of IAMA Javaan, Dr. Mohammad Shokouh-Amiri, Chair of IAMA Javaan and IAMA Tennessee members. I wish to thank Dr. and Mrs. Kitabchi for their hospitality in hosting the first meeting of IAMA Tennessee in their home. Responding to the needs of our countrymen in Iran is one of our goals. We are happy to report that the construction of IAMA’s Medical center in Bam is close to completion; we will keep you informed about our progress in this area. The Moassesehe Pezeshki, IAMA will provide primary care as well as urgent care and specialty to the people of Bam. Enclosed you will see a recent picture of the building in Bam. We encourage your continuous support and would like you to invite your colleagues and friends to join IAMA and participate in their social and medical activities; this would be the most successful way to keep the Iranian community, especially the professional group together. Please complete and return the enclosed membership application. Enclosed is a ballot to elect new members to the Board of Directors of IAMA; please vote for one of two nominees for 2008 through 2010. At the end I would like to ask you to visit the new and advanced IAMA website at WWW.IAMA.ORG which has been under construction for several months. On behalf of IAMA I sincerely thank the hard work and efforts of Dr. Bozorgzad and his colleagues Drs. Omid Zad, M. Shokouh-Amiri and Dr. D. Mazloomdoost. Very truly yours, Jasmin Moshirpur, M.D.
